Fresh out of the contest, one member in particular had to deal with the harshest critics as Jesy Nelson was subject to vile trolling right from the off in the band. The girls released their highly successful debut record 'DNA' in 2012 where it reached number three in the UK and also took the Stateside for the first time as the album hit number four on the Billboard 200 which made Little Mix the first girl group to have their first album hit the top five since Danity Kane in 2006 as well as attaining the highest debut Billboard position by a British female group, smashing the record previously held by girl power icons the Spice Girls with their 1996 effort, 'Spice'.

Tour hit and miss
While promoting their sophomore album 'Salute', the girls took to the stage for an epic arena tour. However, they had to disappoint some fans when they axed the North American leg to focus on new music. The girls had already supported Demi Lovato on the 'Neon Lights Tour' earlier in the year but many American fans were left disappointed at not getting the chance to see the ladies headline a show for themselves.

Black Magic at the BRITs
The group showed the rest of the world who the real girl bosses were with their iconic first performance on the BRITs stage of number one single 'Black Magic'. Their performance at the 2016 ceremony showcased the girls in all their glory showing how they had clearly survived the dreaded reality TV musical act curse. The song was also nominated for British Single and British Artist Video in the same year.

Little Mix went back to how it all started in 2020 with the launch of their own singing competition series 'Little Mix: The Search'. The BBC talent search featured Little Mix as judges putting singers together to form a variety of different groups who competed for the chance to support them on their next tour. The winners of the show, Since September, beat five other competitors to win and get the chance to join Little Mix on tour.

In December 2020 fans worst fears came true when Jesy decided to depart the band following a period of absence from the group. In 2021, fans were left beaming with joy when both Perrie and Leigh-Anne revealed their pregnancies within days of each other, with their partners Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andre Gray. The pair proudly displayed their baby bumps on the 2021 BRIT Awards red carpet in stunning white gowns. In an even bigger shock Leigh-Anne went onto reveal she had given birth to twins resulting in three Little Mix babies all born ready to become the next generation of the Mix.

Following the departure of Jesy, there has been speculation that the 'Sweet Melody' hitmakers will split, but Jade recently insisted that in "10 years time. I don't know. Well, obviously, I think that Little Mix will still be around. We're always going to have each other. I think when you've got that sort of bond ... I've spent my whole adult life with the girls and that'll probably never, ever change, no matter what happens."
Ex-bandmate Jesy released her debut solo single, 'Boyz', last month, and is expected to release her debut album next year.
