Owner of an email account at the 1 & 1 services GMX and Web.de can in future send conventional letters on paper from a new online office. The documents can be transmitted to Deutsche Post with the "Send as letter". There they are printed out, franked and sent to the recipient address as a printed letter, such as 1 & 1 and Deutsche Post announced on Monday.

The Deutsche Post now recommends private users to use the email providers GMX and Web.de as well as their own post & DHL app as alternatives for hybrid mail services. For business customers, E-Post is "continued and expanded" as a platform for digitization of letter communication.
The Deutsche Post and 1 & 1 have been cooperating in mail delivery for a good two years. In this way, Swiss Post can inform its private customers about the services of web.de and GMX in advance by email which shipments in mail traffic will be delivered during the day. A photo of the envelope is sent in an email. The service is free of charge and is theoretically available to the 35 million users of the two 1 & 1 services.
