The German athletics has been on a downward course for several years. At the World Cup in Eugene, the US state of Oregon, there was now a new low with only 2 medals: only 19th place in the medal mirror. Shortly after the reunification, jumpers, players had won 17 medals. One reason for the decline: interest in the sport is lower. The German Athletics Association has lost more than 110,000 members since 1991.
