2022 Ford Bronco Sport

2022 Ford Bronco Sport Pros Stout off-road performance Quiet, comfortable on-road Useful storage solutions Cons Industrial-grade plastic cabin Back seat a little claustrophobic Middling fuel economy, no hybrid The Bronco Sport represents one half of Ford’s resurrection of the Bronco name. Sometimes playfully referred to as the Baby Bronco, the Bronco Sport is an off-road-capable compact crossover based on the Ford Escape. It's smaller and less off-road focused than the standard Bronco and uses an independent rear suspension instead of the Bronco's truck-like live rear axle.

Awards make a difference

Video: 4 tips to prep your car for winter (USA TODAY)

Finding the right vehicle to meet your needs is a daunting task in a market with plenty of choices and stiff competition among automakers. That’s where Kelley Blue Book steps in to make that major purchase both well-informed and as easy as possible. It’s in that spirit that KBB publishes annual Best Buy Awards. For eight years, KBB.com’s experienced editorial staff puts the latest vehicles through their paces to determine which models are tops in their segments. We look for those vehicles that deliver the optimum blend of performance, capability, low operating costs, and affordability.

2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Pros Old-school and new-school luxurious Great powertrains Exceptional air suspension Cons Inconsistent infotainment controls Smaller back seat than some rivals Limited standard driver-assist tech Mercedes-Benz issued a thorough midcycle refresh to the E-Class for 2021; its meaningful updates and the impressive range of variants were impressive enough to earn the midsizer our 2021 Car of the Year award. The current, fifth-generation E-Class was introduced for 2017, and because of its face-lift last year, there aren't any significant changes for 2022.

Whatever your transportation needs, the Best Buy Award program includes categories that represent the wide range of vehicles available on the market today. We consider traditional gas-powered vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and pure electrics in segments that include compact and midsize cars, pickup trucks, and SUVs. The last two categories continue to expand to include on the SUV side smaller subcompact entries in mainstream and luxury brands, and a new compact pickup award.

As the market evolves, so do we

Also attracting a wider range of competing vehicles is the electric vehicle category, where new, longer-range, and more affordable models are beginning to hit the market. Like the expanding roster of truck and SUV categories, electric vehicles will have a growing impact on the luxury and mainstream market. EVs are also available in a wider range of vehicle types, including compact hatchbacks, luxury sedans, SUVs, and even pickup trucks.

Meet the real-world Q behind the cars of No Time to Die

Meet the real-world Q behind the cars of No Time to Die Action Vehicles Coordinator, Neil Layton, tells the behind-the-scenes story of the Aston Martins and Land Rovers seen on screen in the 25th Bond film.Layton's story gets going in 1996, when he joined ProDrive, a motorsport and engineering group made famous globally for its work with the Subaru World Rally Team. There, he rubbed elbows with the likes of Colin McRae, Richard Burns, Juha Kankkunen and Tommi Mäkinen -- some of the greatest rally drivers of all time.

Even as the vehicles under our consideration continue to evolve, what doesn’t change are the criteria Kelley Blue Book editors rely on to help determine which models are eligible for consideration and, ultimately, the awards themselves. At the top of our list are vehicles that combine affordability, low ownership and operating costs, dependability, and reliability. These attributes go hand in hand with vehicles that offer comfort, convenience, the latest in high-tech driver and safety assists, intuitive infotainment, and at the same time are easy and fun to drive. A vehicle that earns a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award is certainly one that warrants serious consideration.

How we do what we do

Much of the initial information needed to qualify and evaluate vehicles for our annual Best Buy program comes from the vehicles test-driven by KBB editors throughout the year. These opportunities include manufacturer vehicle launches, test vehicle evaluation and video production at our offices, and insights derived from our long-term test fleet.

2022 audi s3

2022 audi s3 Pros More power than ever Snazzy exterior styling Tech-forward interior Cons Lacks standard driver aids Unknown interior material quality Hatchback model reserved for Europe Entry-level luxury meets high performance in the Audi S3. This little rascal is the mid-range offering of Audi’s subcompact luxury sedan, sportier than the standard A3 but not as wild as the RS3 still to come. Last refreshed for 2017, the S3 has been fully redesigned for the 2022 model year. Want to learn more about the 2022 Audi S3? Check out our First Look.

This extensive hands-on experience with new vehicles provides the basis for our expert reviews, road test videos, Top 10 lists, and comparisons found on KBB.com. Based on this coverage and data gleaned from our resale values and 5-Year Cost to Own data, we determine which all-new or extensively redesigned vehicles we will consider as Best Buy candidates.

The list of participating vehicles is finalized during the summer with testing at our Irvine, Calif., headquarters starting in September. It’s here where the current category winner is tested side-by-side against the crop of the latest challengers. We evaluate seating comfort, ease and flexibility of getting in and out of the vehicle, the vehicle’s luggage space, along with other creature comforts and infotainment systems.

In addition, we look closely at build quality, cabin materials, and pricing against the competition and expected resale value and operating costs. We also get behind the wheel and test drive the vehicles over a series of loops that involve everyday traffic and road conditions to experience the cars as an owner would. A manufacturer’s reputation for quality, reliability, durability, and various warranties, including bumper-to-bumper and powertrain offerings, also factor in our decision.

2022 Audi A3

2022 Audi A3 Pros Great fuel economy Tech-filled interior RS3’s raucous five-cylinder engine Cons Limited standard driver-assist tech Inevitably tight rear seat Audi’s smallest sedan is fully redesigned for 2022, with styling that brings the A3 in line with the brand’s latest look. Slightly longer, wider, and taller than before, the new A3 provides improved passenger space. The interior features a revised layout and enhanced technology. A turbocharged and hybridized 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will be available with Quattro AWD once the car rolls into U.S. showrooms late in 2021. The sporty S3 and RS3 also makes their return.

The best Black Friday deals for new cars .
New cars are more expensive this year, but some cars without inflated price tags make for smarter buys. The deals list is mixed with some luxury cars, a minivan, SUVs and even a couple electric cars, too. The Jeep Renegade ranks as the best deal based on its MSRP being the least marked up in today's market conditions -- at a 2.3% average markup, buyers will pay only $624 more. The Hyundai Kona EV and Chevrolet Bolt EV both make the list as better deals than most other cars. Notably missing are pickup trucks, which remain incredibly popular with buyers and aren't ripe for deals.
