Boxes filled with glass plates which contained the memory of Sancerre. After the discovery of this treasure, Charlotte Cory launched the Vie in glass project to try to put names on all these anonymous faces. And today, she continues the adventure with this unprecedented photography festival in Sancerre.

Photos intended for the fathers who have left for the front

It must be said that many destinies are linked to these thousands of photos, most of which date from the 1930s and 40s, during the Second World War. "These photos tell a city during these difficult years, especially for all these children without fathers, says Charlotte Cory. Their mothers have gone to the photographer to make portraits of their children and send them to the front or to those who were prisoners" . Precious memories and testimonies of life during the occupation.

Installed in the Cher for nine years, the artist also wishes, through these different projects, pay tribute to the photographer at the origin of most of these shots, Marcelle Vatan. Unknown to the general public, this talented portrait painter was also one of the very first women in France to graduate in photography.
