Cruel and revolting
freshly landed in Belgium from Benin, Lokita, who approaches 18 years, was entitled with Tori, a boy of ten years whom she met when he arrives and Like his brother. To reimburse their smuggler, they participate in drug trafficking and she must sexually submit to the dealer. Separated from Tori by the trafficker with whom she works, Lokita goes out of friendship to commit the irreparable.
The Dardenne brothers once again sign a beautiful original scenario to stigmatize a contemporary reality: African economic immigration in Europe. The friendship that brings Lokita and Tori closer to the link that unites them with their country of regret, left to send money to their families. The attitude of their "employers" towards them is all the more cruel and revolting.

faithful to realism, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne dig it a little more in Tori and Lokita, by favoring the sequence plan which accentuates veracity and develops action in real time. But in agreement with a Cameroonian journalist at the end of the projection, realism is however a little darken by the absence of accent in these two young Africans just arrived from their native Benin, as if they had been living for ten years in Belgium. A detail, but which reflects negligence of which they are not customary and to which other cinemas, especially American, are very attentive.
This downside, however, does not bother Tori and Lokita who remains in the exact line of Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne's cinema. Their social fiber is transposed once again into an intact humanist militancy, with their customary, remarkable and renewed formal purity.
