Brussels (Reuters) - Retail sales in the euro area increased slightly more than expected in annual slip in February, supported by gasoline and non-food products, according to data published Thursday by Eurostat.

According to the statistical agency of the European Union, retail sales in the 19 countries sharing euro increased by 0.3% in February and 5.0% annual slip.

Economists interviewed by Reuters found an increase of 0.6% on a less and 4.8% on the year.

The volume of fuel sales in the euro area increased by 3.2% in February compared to January, for an increase of 12.0% in annual slip, while sales of non-food products increased by 0, 8% over the month and 9.3% compared to February 2021.

The volume of sales of the power supply, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.5% monthly shift and 2% over the year.
