the US agency in charge of labor law ( NLRB) has given the green light to organize a vote on the possible creation of a union in a second Amazon warehouse located in Sten Island in New York.
"The NLRB approved our request," said the organization called Amazon Labor Union on its Twitter account Wednesday night.
The union proved that it had collected the signatures of at least 30% of the employees of the site, a necessary condition for the organization of a vote, confirmed to the AFP a spokesman of the NLRB Thursday.

The union and Amazon must now agree on the polling conditions in the warehouse called LDJ5 and including Environment 1,500 employees, otherwise the agency will decide.
"We look forward to hearing the voice of our employees," reacted a spokesperson for Amazon. "Our goal remains to work directly with our team to make Amazon a place where it is good to work," she added.
The online commerce giant is now facing three unionization attempts.
The employees of the JFK8 warehouse located in the district of Sten Island, close to the LDJ5 warehouse, must vote in person from March 25 to 30 for the creation of a union on the site.
further south, in Alabama, a correspondence vote is at the same time at the Bessemer warehouse employees. They have the opportunity to revote after the failure of a first attempt last year, the NLRB who felt that Amazon had violated the rules.

After the creation in December of a union in two Starbucks coffees in Buffalo in the northern New York State, a first in institutions directly managed by the group in the United States, a third coffee has been syndicing end February in Arizona and records have been deposited in more than 100 other institutions.
Employees of a New York store in the RSP outdoor articles chain, which has about 170 institutions in the country, also voted massively Wednesday to join the Rwdsu union, representing employees in the distribution sector.
These successes have often been led by more favorable employees than their seniors to trade union organizations, in decline for several decades in the country. The rate of unionized employees in the private sector has further declined in 2021, at 6.1%.
