The Blues have announced that forward Brandon Saad will be unavailable on Saturday due to COVID protocol. Saad, as well as the entire Blues roster, is vaccinated. With Saad sidelined and Pavel Buchnevich suspended, the Blues will be without their two major offseason additions for their home opener against the L.A. Kings. © Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports St. Louis Blues left wing Brandon Saad The Blues have not revealed the cause of Saad’s entry into the COVID protocol. However, the fact that he has already been ruled out of a game that is 48 hours away would imply that he has tested positive.

The Blackhawks are the hockey world'scenterofattention after the findings of an investigation into an internal cover-up of a sexual assault came to light last week, so it’s only natural that someone in the organization adds a little more gasoline to the problematic fire for absolutely no reason at all.
Chicago prospect Artur Kayumov decided to take Halloween as an occasion to offend.

Will Sharks send impressive rookie William Eklund back to Swedish league?
With three assists in four games, Eklund is showing flashes of potential and already demonstrating the value the Sharks got with a seventh overall selection. Yet Eklund was scratched Sunday for their first loss of the season against the Boston Bruins, allowing Alexander Barabanov to draw back into the lineup. Eklund’s spent the season playing on a line with Tomas Hertl and Rudolfs Balcers, but sits as a minus-3 with none of his points coming at even strength.

On an Instagram post, which has since been deleted, Kayumov poses with who is most likely his partner, in a Palestinian kufiya over his head and a traditional men’s prayer dress — and of course an assault rifle just for show. To make matters worse, his girlfriend is wearing a saree, a traditional Indian garment, so it’s not only a racist costume, but an ignorant one as well.
Kayumov also posted another picture to his Instagram story.
This show of somewhat honest bigotry is certainly not an isolated instance, as one Arab hockey fan points out.
Hi, my name is Hadi. I'm an Arab who's desperately trying to make it in the hockey industry.
This is how some of my potential colleagues/employers perceive my culture. Many of them are in positions of authority and/or hiring power, across various sectors of the hockey world. 1/ https://t.co/gzctAljxNQ
Vegas Golden Knights move Max Pacioretty to long-term injured reserve
That means Pacioretty will be out at least 10 games and 24 days, but also adds an additional $7M to the team’s long-term relief pool. Previously, the team Alex Tuch and Jake Bischoff on LTIR creating $5.47M in relief, almost all of which had been used up. The Golden Knights wouldn’t have had enough space left to even recall a 23rd player, but now can operate freely with Pacioretty moved to LTIR, bringing up an extra player, or acquiring someone through trade. Still, it guarantees that they’ll be without a top offensive option for the next little while.

This isn't an isolated thing. I've had fellow students, teachers, and employers show up dressed as "Arabs" with some sort of taqiyyah or hijab accompanied by some form of weaponry. One kid showed up at my school with a ticking strap bomb under the exact "costume" seen here.

It'd be much less hurtful without the weaponry, which firmly attaches the concept of violence to anyone who looks or dresses like this.
It still hurts without it, though. We're not costumes for you to caricature and bastardize.

In what is no doubt the most troubling time for the NHL — and the Blackhawks specifically — in recent memory, maybe a terrible and offensive Halloween costume isn’t the best thing to flaunt.
A second-round pick in 2016, the 23-year-old Kayumov has played his last five seasons for the KHL’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

Opinion: Gary Bettman is handling Blackhawks scandal like a lawyer, not a commissioner .
At a time when the NHL needs to show empathy and humanity, to be honest about its mistakes, Commissioner Gary Bettman has been at his lawyerly best.Dispassionate. Narrow-focused. Defensive. And utterly and completely oblivious to how the NHL and the Chicago Blackhawks failed Kyle Beach.
