The Chilean government confirmed the rescue of the corporal Luis Toledo, kidnapped last Tuesday in Guayaquil (Ecuador) by a group demanding 100,000 dollars (95,000 euros) in exchange for its release.

The Ecuadorian police confirmed the soldier's release, who had been removed while on leave, and announced the arrest of one of the alleged captors during the rescue operation.
