'The cosycore trend is cottagecore's comfy best friend and is the perfect way to create a warm and welcoming home as we move into autumn,' says Siobhan McMillan, Head of Buying (Homewares) at MADE.com. 'The cosycore trend combines cheerful vintage accents with warm cuddly touches.'

Experiment with autumnal tones

'Earthy tones are perfect for enriching a space and bringing in a calming feel to a home,' says Bo Hellberg, CMO at String Furniture. We agree – rich, autumnal hues (such as earthy browns and rusty orange tones) allude to the outside world and reflect the way nature rests during this season. These deeper colours create depth, and warmth, as well as having a cocoon-like effect.

It is simple, clean, incredibly changeable-and therefore a must-have for every wardrobe. But blouse is not just blouse. There are numerous versions and especially in recent years the appearance of the fashion trend was more diverse than ever.

She also recommends taking inspiration from your autumn walks. 'Take a look at the colour palette of your surroundings and look for accessories that reflect the bronze, burnt orange, and amber hues of nature,' Amy suggests. 'A beautiful brown tortoiseshell glass vase with some dried hydrangea heads would make a stylish addition to your coffee table or mantelpiece.'

Layering is key to a cosycore interior

In a cosycore home, the more layers, the better. You want to create a feeling of depth – this can be elevated through mixing and matching textures (especially cosy ones like fleece, wool, boucle and faux fur).

ChelsaBoots are back! The classic shoe trend in autumn 2022 is styled

ChelsaBoots are back! The classic shoe trend in autumn 2022 is styled If there was a shoe equivalent to the small black one, then it would probably be the ChelsaBoot . No boot is as classic and timeless as the ankle-high shoe , which was particularly hype in the early 2000s. After that, although of course they were never gone, it became a little quieter around the ChelsaBoots. In the autumn 2022 , however, it is over! ChelsaBoots are back - and as versatile than ever before! We show how you can style the shoe trend 2022 now.

'Layering blankets with texture or bold designs also look great and can bring playfulness to the colder months, especially if you go for bright, saturated colours,' says Jade Milne, Lead Design Specialist at TBCo.

'Lambswool is the ultimate material to have on hand during winter, as it's natural, hypoallergenic and temperature regulating, not to mention, soft. It's also a sustainable, renewable material, so it's as good for the planet as it is for you and your home.'

Layering shouldn't just stop at soft furnishings, either. Curtains can be layered, with a heavier outer layer and lighter linen or net voile inside. Choose rich textures such as velvet and you'll trap heat, too.

Rugs can be layered, as Martin Waller, founder of Andrew Martin, explains: 'Don’t stop at just one rug, layer them up for added interest as well as warmth.' This will help to keep your toes toasty warm and create an eclectic look.

If you can, invest in a good-quality carpet in at least one room of the house and create a cosy hideaway. 'Where flooring like wood or tiles might make a room feel stark and bare, a soft woven wool carpet, layered with accessories in cashmere, mohair and linen will all work to soften the overall loo,' advises Lisa Conway, Marketing Manager at Brintons.

Jodie Hatton, Design Manager at Brintons, agrees: 'Most importantly, choose a material that provides warmth underfoot. Wool is an excellent choice due to its natural insulating properties.'

Use lighting to create a cosy atmosphere

With the days getting shorter and the nights drawing in, it's the ideal time to overhaul and optimise your lighting. Assess which rooms you'll spend the most time in and make sure there are plenty of light sources, so you can adjust the brightness as the sun goes down.

A mix of lighting offers you plenty of options, especially if your ceiling light is harsh and you want to create a more ambient space with a lamp or some string lights, for example.

Scarlett Hampton, co-founder of lights&lamps, says layered lighting is key: 'Layer lighting levels from several sources, with a mix of table lamps on surfaces, floor lamps, and wall lights to cast a cosy glow.'

By arranging the lights at different heights, you soften their combined glow and create a far more relaxed atmosphere.
