The jaw-dropping Welsh castles you can stay in for a night and live like kings and queens You don't have to be a celebrity to plan a stay at a Welsh castleWhile the stars and presenters of television, radio, music and sport moan about being hungry and gag trying to eat unmentionable items during one of the show's popular eating trials, you could be ordering room service lying on a soft bed, living in luxury.

Looking for a unique staycation? Well, The Crown's Balmoral Castle is now available to rent.

One of the things Peter Morgan's incredible royal drama is renowned for is the attention to detail that goes into the costumes, make-up and sets. After all, even Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana in the new series, admitted helping herself to one of the realistic props. So it's no surprise that the trailer for season four promises more of the same, especially when it comes to regal locations.

The Crown's "missing episode" involved a scary kidnapping

The Crown's Princess Anne deserves better. The Crown spoilers follow, but they're pretty minor.

Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire was used as both the interior of Downing Street – where Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson, is seen working and holding meetings – and the Queen's Scottish holiday home, Balmoral Castle, where Olivia Colman spends time.

That means both Anderson and Colman – along with the cast and crew of The Crown –stayed at Hedsor during filming. And now you can too because the house is available for hire post-lockdown.

It's perhaps unsurprising that Morgan chose the beautiful property as a key filming location. Hedsor is just 15 miles from London and has welcomed Kings, Queens and royal children from nearby Windsor Castle since 1166.
