NCIS: Los Angeles fans needn't worry about the action-packed drama ending just yet, showrunner R. Scott Gemmill has assured.

One concerned viewer recently asked TV Line to confirm whether or not season 13, which kicked off in October, would be the series' last, to which they were reminded of Gemmill's answer to that same question following the current outing's pick-up in April.

"We sort of always have that in the back of our mind [but] I will hope to get a heads-up if that is the case," he explained to the publication at the time.

"Just so that we can go out with an episode, or a bunch of episodes, that really tie up things and send our characters in to the future in a way that makes everyone happy.

Back in June, Gerald McRaney was promoted to series regular following the exit of Barrett Foa and Renée Felice Smith's respective characters, tech consultant Eric Beale and intelligence agent Nell Jones in season 12.

The actor, who plays retired admiral Hollace Kilbride, was always regarded as a recurring guest star in the past.

In season 13, McRaney shares the screen with fellow cast members LL Cool J (as Second in Command Sam Hanna), Eric Christian Olsen (as investigator Marty Deeks) and Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, Daniela Ruah and Chris O'Donnell who play special agents Fatima Namazi, Devin Roundtree, Kensi Blye and Grisha 'G' Callen respectively.
