Kingsman star Taron Egerton broke through in the industry when he first played Eggsy in the action spy comedy, and the offers of starring in big franchises started coming in thick and fast.

One of those roles was as young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the film that told the story of how the character met Chewbacca and Lando, got the Millennium Falcon, did the Kessel Run, and got his name, among other things.

Speaking about how far he got in the casting process, Egerton told the Happy Sad Confused podcast: "I felt that, I'll be honest, I got on the Falcon, I was with Chewie, I was in the costume. I got there, I did it, I lived it.

"There was another round, I decided not to do it. It just felt to me like I didn't feel 'I've got to do this, this is my part'. You're following Harrison Ford, no one ever wants to follow Harrison Ford."

"It's hard, isn't it?" he continued. "I feel like there's an unspoken thing in Hollywood where it feels almost taboo to talk about the conversations you've had that never came to a reality. But I don't care about that."

Alden Ehrenreich ended up taking the role, and the film released to a mixed reception and disappointing box office, leading to the cancellation of planned sequels and the retooling of movies focused on Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi into TV shows for Disney+ instead.
