The Strictly Come Dancing countdown has officially begun, and while everyone has been eyeing up the seven celebrities confirmed so far, a spoof Strictly account has been hogging the limelight.

So far, it’s been confirmed that Kym Marsh, Kaye Adams, Richie Anderson, Will Mellor, Tyler West, Ellie Simmonds and Jayde Adams will be strutting their stuff on the iconic dancefloor.

And while we look forward to seeing a new batch of celebrities immerse themselves in the glitz and glamour, an interesting selection of stars have been featured on the convincing account – which left me, a TV reporter, doing a double take.

Other notable mentions include: TikTok drinks expert Danielle Walsh, Big Brother star Bonnie Holt, X Factor auditionee Holly Jervis and Sugababes’ Heidi Range’s me note at the end of Stronger.

Safe to say the regular Twitter updates have sparked a reaction, with some absolutely living for the creative cast, while others demanded a refund on their TV license.

‘Can’t wait for Jill Tyrell to hold the glitterball. Gutted it’s not Linda or Terry though!,’ one enthused fan wrote.

‘I reckon Rebekah Vardys phone and Claire from come dine with me are contenders,’ another added.

Strictly bosses revealed that the launch show will be recorded on Wednesday, September 7.

It’s likely that the show will return on Saturday, September 10 with presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly welcoming this year’s line-up.

‘Dust off your dancing shoes, Strictly Come Dancing is back!’ they said in a statement.

Head judge Shirley Ballas will be joined once again by fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.
