BBC's Strictly Come Dancing entered it's second week yesterday, (October 1), and now dancers will start being voted off as the public decide their favourites. Some fans of the show haven't been positive about this year's competition and there are even 'regular' viewers who are considering 'switching off'.

In 2021, viewing figures went through the roof as Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice stole the hearts of the nation. But, after the success of last year's series there are criticisms that the dancing competition is suffering a 'hangover'.

There were complaints that the celebrities 'aren't as famous' as previous years and that the show is 'lacking originality'. One fan even said: "Must say that it’s not holding me this year. I shall give it a few more weeks and see if I can find my enthusiasm for it."

More complaints came from fans who felt the show was 'missing something'. The show's music, costumes, and change in professional dancers, have all caused some fans to express their lack of interest. One saying: "I think because a lot of our favourite professional dancers are no longer there, it doesn't feel the same."

One of those professionals that fans are missing is Aljaž Škorjanec, who fans pleaded with to return after only the first week of this year's competition. Despite retiring from the Strictly ballroom, fans have said that the show 'isn't the same without him' and want the 32-year-old to come back.

Amongst the complaints about specific parts of the series were those who were genuinely confused as to why they couldn't get excited about the show this year. One fan said: "I’m certainly not getting my normal vibes and I don’t know why. I could list all the things I didn’t like about last night but none of them were enough to put me off so I really am puzzled as to why I feel like this, this year."

Despite complaints, there were those who urged other fans to 'give the show more time', and those who couldn't understand the criticism that Strictly was getting this year. One viewer praised the show and said: "I am enjoying this year. I think the standard of dancing has been high so so early in the series. There are some great celebrities. I embrace the diversity."

Another added: "I just love it every year, no matter who is competing or whether there's a "connection" between the couples. No doubt as we get further into the competition, I'll have a favourite and I'm sure I wont always agree with the judges but for a couple of hours each week, I'll forget my energy bills and the war in Ukraine and just immerse myself in the glitz and glamour that is Strictly. Long may it continue."
