Emmerdale has released a behind-the-scenes film about making the soap's 50th anniversary episodes.

Last month, the show celebrated half a century on our screens with a month full of death and drama as well as an epic stunt episode which saw a huge storm hit the village.

In the six-minute video, shared by the official Emmerdale Twitter account, the soap's team are seen preparing for the episodes all the way back in May.

We then get an inside look at how the storm was filmed, as the crew are shown in front of a blue screen which they throw leaves, plastic and other parts of debris at to give the effect of gale force winds.

We also see trees on hinges that the crew were able to move up and down as if they'd been blown over as the storm ripped through the village.

Cast members were also interviewed, including Isobel Steele, whose character Liv Dingle sadly died as a result of the injuries she sustained during the storm.

Sitting next to castmate Bradley Johnson, who plays Liv's husband Vinny, Isobel says: "It's nice to get to work together on a stunt like this.

"I always like doing stunts. They're my favourite thing in the world, just because it's not a normal day. There's not eight scenes in a day, it's two. So you get to really focus on every single shot."

In a video following the episode's airing, Michael Wildman, who played Al, told fans: "The time has come for Al Chapman to move on. I just want to say a big thank you to all the fans.

"All you guys out there that have made this possible for me to play. I've enjoyed every single moment of playing this mischievous, complex character. Thank you to the 95% of you that absolutely hate him and the 5% of you that actually love him."
