Former Prime Minister Liz Truss promised it would be issued in November, but then Northern Ireland Secretary previously told a Westminster committee he could not commit to a definitive date. Mr Heaton-Harris insisted on Good Morning Britain that the public will have clarity on the arrival of the payments ‘as soon as possible’.

Paul Heaton has announced today that performing partner Jacqui Abbott will not be playing with him at his next few shows - including in Sheffield.

The former Housemartins frontman put out a Facebook explaining Abbott had been advised she needed a complete rest from singing. Jacqui will therefore not be playing with Paul and the band while her voice recovers.

It means she will miss out on the gigs scheduled for Sheffield, Manchester and London. The news comes after Jacqui had further medical advice this morning.

This means that sadly she will not be performing with Paul and the band at the next few shows in Sheffield, Manchester and London. We hope you will join us in sending all of your love and best wishes to Jacqui.

"Paul and the band, along with very special guest Billy Bragg, have been putting on some great shows over the last week and they’re really looking forward to putting on a fantastic night for you all at the final shows of the tour.

"Thank you for all your patience and we hope you enjoy the next few nights. If you would prefer not to enter and attend, then you will be able claim a refund from your point of purchase before the show takes place."

Hundreds of fans commented on the post to send Jacqui their well wishes and say they were still excited to see the show. Jacqui had previously had to miss out on the Bridlington, Glasgow, Stockton Portsmouth, Nottingham and Birmingham shows.

He had previously tried to plead guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility, but it was refused by the prosecution.But at Derby Crown Court this morning he finally admitted murder and raping schoolgirl Lacey during the attack in September last year.
