Cardiff keen on Christie

Cardiff City have reportedly shown an interest in Fulham right-back Cyrus Christie, but could face competition from Blackburn Rovers.

According to Sky Sports, the 29-year-old could well be made available next month, with his current contract at Craven Cottage set to expire at the end of the season.

Christie has fallen out of favour in west London, and has made just one appearance in all competitions this term.

Reports suggest there is also interest from Elche in Spain and Bologna in Italy

No imminent Wintle recall

Cardiff City boss Steve Morison has refused to rule out the possibility of recalling Ryan Wintle, but has dismissed talk of an imminent move on the eve of the January window.

The Cardiff City headlines you can expect to read in 2022 as big clearout expected and relegation dogfight to dominate Here is what Bluebirds fans can expect to read about next year after another hectic 12 months comes to an endIt has been book-ended by disappointment, it has to be said, but, as ever, there is hope that next year brings a new start and fresh optimism.

Wintle has been in fine form out on loan for Championship rivals Blackpool, sparking calls from some fans to bring him back to South Wales this January.

The transfer window opens in just a few hours, but Morison has played down the possibility of an imminent recall.

"I can't call Ryan back yet, so I don't have to worry about that," he said when asked after the defeat to Bournemouth.

"You will find out when everyone else finds out.

"Now is not the right time or place for me to say anything like that on Ryan as I can't call him back within the next week or two."

Morison has already recalled striker Max Watters, who returns after a promising spell at MK Dons, where he netted seven goals in 14 games in all competitions.

Morrison hits out at 'disgraceful' Bacuna

Clinton Morrison has hit out at Leandro Bacuna, following the midfielder's horrendous tackle on Bournemouth's Phillip Billing.

Bacuna was shown a straight red card just before half-time after lunging into the Cherries man, following a wild two-footed tackle.

It was a moment that proved costly for the Bluebirds, who went on to lose 3-0 at the hands of the Cherries.

And Morrison pulled no punches in his assessment of the incident.

"I don't know what Bacuna's doing. It's not like Billing's going in on goal and even if he is you can just pull his shirt," he said while on punditry duty for Quest's EFL highlights show.

"That's a disgraceful tackle. He could have had a serious injury there, Billing. He's scissored him. It's a poor tackle.

Host Colin Murray added: "I'm trying to think of a sport where you wouldn't get sent off for that. Even in ice hockey I think you'd be sent off for that."

"Not wrestling. They'd kick you out and you'd be banned," Morrison replied.

Bacuna is subsequently set to miss Cardiff's clash with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Sunday.

Baggies receive double boost

West Bromwich Albion will be able to call on Alex Mowatt and Karlan Grant for the visit of the Bluebirds.

Both players sat out the recent 1-0 defeat against Derby County after turning in positive Covid tests, but are now back in contention after negative PCR results.

Mowatt has been a big driving force in the Baggies midfield this season, having scored three times in 18 appearances, while Grant too has emerged as a key player, earning nine goals in 23 outings.
