Sheffield Wednesday fans have lavished praise on Barry Bannan after the Owls skipper scored a goal of the season contender during the first half of the League One clash at MK Dons. Darren Moore's side went in 3-1 up at the break following a hectic first half at the Stadium MK, with Bannan's stunning strike the big talking point.

The Owls got off to the perfect start in this crucial promotion clash, as they look to upset an MK Dons side that have not lost since January. The recalled Saido Berahino struck after just 11 minutes, firing home Bannan cross past Jamie Cumming after a smart corner routine.

Moore's side doubled their lead on 20 minutes, as Lee Gregory slotted home from another corner, as the visitors' set piece dominance showed again, but more joy was to come for the away fans. With 30 minutes on the clock, Dons defender Dean Lewington nodded a long ball from Bailey Peacock-Farrell towards Bannan, who was 35 yards from goal.
