Imagine, instead of the metro photo booth, booths specially designed to isolate you and attend your professional meeting by videoconference. This is precisely the idea of "CocoDesk", developed by the multinational Fuji Xerox, which installed these funny cabins in the corridors of the Tokyo metro.

Inaugurated in August 2020 in the capital of Naples, the "CocoDesk" are equipped to feel "at the office": a work table, an office chair, an LCD screen, sockets for connecting electronic devices, a Wifi connection and an air conditioning system ... and even carpeted floors.

Japan to ban entry of non-Japanese from UK due to coronavirus mutation

Japan to ban entry of non-Japanese from UK due to coronavirus mutation It’s a striking memorial: five white bikes stacked on top of each other in tribute to five dead cyclists. Fellow bikers leave flowers at the “ghost bikes” for the victims of the horrible tragedy that happened on a highway outside Las Vegas. The riders were avid cyclists who were participating in a long distance ride called the Nipton Loop, which goes from Las Vegas, into California and back, when they were accidentally struck from behind by a box truck.

According to Fuji Xerox, there are currently 63 such installations in Tokyo metro stations. If you quickly imagine yourself suffocating at the idea of spending several hours in a row in these individual cabins (claustrophobic, abstain), the CocoDesk are more aimed at people who wish to isolate themselves for a professional meeting between two metro trips. They are in fact available for hire in 15-minute increments at a price of 250 yen (approximately 2 euros).

Another Japanese initiative, that of an amusement park, Yomiuri Land, has for example launched an offer for its visitors offering them to work ... at the top of the Tokyo Ferris wheel. Finally, some capsule hotels and karaoke bars, real institutions in the Land of the Rising Sun, have temporarily turned into workspaces.

Some of these innovations, however, date from before the pandemic. In the financial district of Marunouch in Tokyo, it is not uncommon to see camping tents pitched at the top of buildings. One way to offer a moment of escape to employees in suits and ties who spend long hours in the office.
