How to Substitute for Cream Cheese in Cakes, Dips, Spreads and More

How to Substitute for Cream Cheese in Cakes, Dips, Spreads and More There are several ways to substitute for cream cheese in any dish, be it sweet or salty. Here are eight great swaps for cakes, dips, sauces and more.

For a fancier dining experience, the box recommends upgrading to a fondue dish rubbed with garlic. After bringing your dish to a boil, you can spice things up with pepper, nutmeg, and/or more garlic. Finally, place the pot on a chafing dish (if you have one), so it stays slightly bubbly while you enjoy your cheese with fresh bread or vegetables.

Fans of the melty cheese dish commented on the Instagram post with more favorite ways to enjoy the meal. "I add some garlic and use carrots, cauliflower, and bread for dipping!" one said. "I love dipping any bread into it, but my favorite thing is actually onion hamburger buns sliced into strips," another added.

According to the nutritional information, 1/4 cup of the fondue has 135 calories, 9 grams of protein, 2 grams of carbs, 9 grams of fat, 370 milligrams of sodium, and no fiber or sugar. Opting for veggies is a great way to keep your diet on track so you can enjoy all of the special holiday dishes the season has to offer.
