Staying active while stuck inside is one of the harder things to adjust to, but luckily there are plenty of at-home workout solutions from yoga mats and small equipment to big-ticket items such as the immensely popular Peloton bike.

8 Legit Reasons You Should Just Try an Indoor Cycling Class Already

8 Legit Reasons You Should Just Try an Indoor Cycling Class Already It’s more than just a good workout.Part of the reason we love cycling is because it allows us to get outside and explore. But sometimes, the weather is just plain awful or there’s just not enough time in the day. The next best option? A Spin class, of course.

As a devoted member of the Peloton wolfpack, I can say that having a professional-level workout located just steps away from my bed or kitchen is chief among the reasons why I love the bike so much. I'm a working mom to four kids, so even when there wasn't a global pandemic carving out time to go to the gym is nearly impossible. But with a Peloton, I get to attend a virtual New York City cycling studio setting from the privacy of my very own home whenever I want.

And as some states begin to open while others close back up, that concept is more important than ever. Now if you spend a significant amount of time on your Peloton or at-home cycle (or are interested in one), there are actually a ton of accessories you can invest in to make the ride even more comfortable. From a portable speaker to boost sound to padded bike shorts to aid your aching butt, these indoor cycling accessories can support and enhance your ride.

The pandemic changed my mind about Peloton

The pandemic changed my mind about Peloton I used to make fun of the expensive at-home exercise bike. Then I didn’t leave my apartment for five months. The act of getting an exercise bike for someone who maybe didn’t ask for an exercise bike, combined with the hostage video ambiance of the woman’s early struggle to learn to love an obligation-creating present, made it seem like the unnamed husband wanted a skinnier, more beautiful version of his already-beautiful wife.

Check out our top Peloton accessories picks below, ranging from my favorite wireless earphones to ride in to the compression cycling socks that everyone should be wearing in the saddle. This list is your go-to for every possible product an avid indoor cyclist needs, and you might as well consider it the ultimate Peloton gift guide, too. See you on the leaderboard!

Bose Portable Home Speaker ($349; amazon.com)

A common complaint amongst Peloton owners is the lacking sound quality emitted from the screen. Eliminate your frustration — and create a supersonic in-studio experience — with Bose's latest Bluetooth smart speaker. In addition to being Google Assistant- and Amazon Alexa-enabled, the speaker can easily connect with Peloton via the settings/Bluetooth tab. More to know: The petite speaker (it's only 2.3 pounds and 7.5-inches tall!) delivers incredible, 360-degree sound and is water-resistant, meaning you can take it from the bike to the beach in the same day.

What to Wear to Spin Class

What to Wear to Spin Class The right gear allows you to focus on your workout, not your wardrobe.“Wearing the right clothing for class is so, so important,” says Garner Pilat, an instructor at Swerve, a team-based cycling studio in New York City. “If you’re having to hike up your bottoms throughout a ride or don’t feel stable in your shoes, you’ll be more worried about those little annoyances than the workout itself. You want to feel comfortable and confident in your skin before you even break a sweat, and the right picks and materials will help you focus on what’s really important: the workout and having fun.

How Does the New Peloton Bike+ Compare to the Original At-Home Bike? With COVID-19 making in-person workouts more difficult and unsafe, people have had to adjust to at-home workouts. Many love the Peloton at-home bike, which includes great features like a moveable screen, a solid sound system, and workout classes (there are even Disney-themed ones). © Getty / Ezra Shaw How Does the New Peloton Bike+ Compare to the Original At-Home Bike? Lululemon Wunder Train High-Rise Tight 25" ($98; lululemon.com)

Launched in late February, Lululemon's newest fabric Everlux is ultra-lightweight and quick-drying and was specifically designed to cool users during high-intensity, high-sweat exercise. I took the Wunder Train High-Rise Tights for a (literal) spin and loved the leggings' silky interior feel and how they virtually wicked sweat away from my body. Given all the leaning forward that occurs during a ride, I also appreciated the Wunder's wide, no-pinch waistband. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, check out these Lululemon-inspired leggings.
