It's been a very busy summer of TV watching, so I'm happy to say that this week is a little lighter on new offerings, which makes it the perfect time to catch up on shows like The Bear (FX on Hulu) or Netflix's Virgin River. (Speaking of, read our latest with the romantic drama's new showrunner.) There's also plenty of great, smaller shows you might have missed, like PBS's docuseries In Their Own Words, which re-airs the episode on Queen Elizabeth II this week.
Perhaps most exciting of all though is the comfort TV food that premieres this week, starting with Hallmark Channel kicking off its annual “Fall into Love” programming event with four new original movie premieres each Saturday. Up first: Love in the Limelight with the PenaVegas.

Alex vs. America (Food Network/discovery+): Speaking of amazing dining experiences, you can learn a thing or two with tonight's premiere of Alex vs. America in which celebrity chef Alexandra “Alex” Guarnaschelli returns with two new episodes of her show. The first one—“Alex vs Italian”—welcomes three chefs specializing in Italian cuisine from New York, Florida, and New Jersey. Alexandra Daddario said Meghan Markle inspired her 'something blue' at her wedding because she's 'obsessed' with her
Alexandra Daddario got married in New Orleans in June. Her "something blue" was an aquamarine ring inspired by Meghan Markle. The floral embroidery on the sleeves paid homage to the UK. The roses, thistles, daffodils, and shamrocks represented the four national emblems of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Then, in episode two, titled “Alex vs Brunch,” host Eric Adjepong welcomes three talented brunch experts from New Hampshire, California, and Arizona to challenge Chef Guarnaschelli in two intense rounds of cooking. Also, how does one become a brunch expert? Really going to need details about this. 9 p.m. ET/PT © Sean Rosenthal/Food Network Hosts Alex Guarnaschelli and Eric Adjepong, as seen on Alex vs America, Season 2.

The True Story Behind Those Prince William And Kate Middleton Affair Rumors
Plus, what that Twitter trending hashtag really means. ????The internet has once again been inundated with (likely false) rumors that Prince William is having an affair and cheating on Kate Middleton. Last time we dealt with this whole thing was in 2019, when tabloids became obsessed with a “falling out” involving Kate, William, and a family friend named Rose Hanbury, who is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley (which is somehow pronounced like “Chumley”).
Also, The Manor–the ship’s signature nightclub that traces back to Richard Branson’s first Virgin music studio–makes a special appearance during one of the season’s most competitive dates, while Redemption Spa’s thermal suite and mud room doubles as a merman hideaway and hangout for the guys. Since we're not going to get Bachelor in Paradise until later this fall (September 27, 2022, to be exact), this might be the next best thing. 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT and streaming the next day on Hulu © ABC/Warner Horizon Honestly, I'm game for every episode of The Bachelorette being on a cruise ship.

Wedding Season (Netflix): The plot is a bit predictable, but Wedding Season features two charismatic leads (Pallavi Sharda, Suraj Sharma) and a gorgeous backdrop in which Asha and Ravi are pressured by their immigrant parents to find spouses so they pretend to date in order to survive a summer of weddings. Of course they find themselves falling for each other, to which I ask: Why doesn't it ever work this easily in real life? Streaming

The Sandman (Netflix): From Warner Bros. Television comes the highly anticipated dark fantasy series based on the popular comic books of the same name created for DC by Neil Gaiman. Gwendoline Christine (Game of Thrones), Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter), and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Why Women Kill) are among the cast, who were all at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend to debut the show's trailer. 10 episodes, streaming
All the Iconic Outfits From ‘The Hills’ You Forgot About
It's fine to admit you would wear all of this now. The Hills was a groundbreaking show for many reasons. Aside from giving us some top-notch drama, it gifted fans some amazing fashion inspiration. Did all of it stand the test of time? Definitely not. In the interest of preserving The Hills'spot in American fashion history, here are 42 memorable and slightly strange looks from this iconic show. Yes, that includes Lauren Conrad's collection of headbands, Justin Bobby's many hats, and more.
Luck (Apple TV+): Sam Greenfield is apparently the unluckiest person in the world but when she stumbles into the never-before-seen Land of Luck, she sets out to bring some good luck home for her best friend. Sounds lovely, except humans are not allowed so her only hope is to team up with the magical creatures who live there to do it. The cast is voiced by Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Simon Pegg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O’Donoghue, John Ratzenberger, and more, and the trailer has over 11 million views, so don't sit out on this one. Love in the Limelight (Hallmark Channel): I'm in no rush for summer to be over, but I also can't help but look forward to the crisp fall air and autumn-scented candles. Alexa PenaVega and Carlos PenaVega will help get you (or me) in the mood as they kick off Hallmark's annual “Fall Into Love” programming event, with six original songs written by Carlos in the film Love in the Limelight. The movie is inspired by the real-life love story of Willie Aames (Picture Perfect Mysteries: Exit Stage Death, Eight is Enough) and his wife Winnie Hung.
Here's the plot, per Hallmark: "As a teenager, Summer (Alexa PenaVega) was a devoted fan of the popular boy band the Mendez Boyz, especially Nick (Carlos PenaVega), their lead singer. After receiving a sweet fan letter from Summer, Nick decides to respond with a phone call, sparking the start of a friendship that’s lasted to this day. When Nick’s manager books a gig for him at a small venue in Summer’s hometown of Salt Lake City, where she now works in human resources at a local university, the two finally meet face-to-face. It’s clear their friendship has set the stage for romance and Summer’s abuelita–a hip grandma with a TikTok following–encourages her to follow her heart." 8 p.m. ET/PT
Prince William Has Been Accused of Cheating on Kate Middleton With Their Friend
Here's the latest on the affair rumors.American publication In Touch reported back in April 2019 that William may have had an affair with Rose, and that when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he apparently “laughed it off saying there was nothing to it.
And by the way, if you're a fan of the PenaVegas, make sure to pick up their new book, What If Love Is The Point?, which is out now.
Belfast (HBO): In case you haven't seen Kenneth Branagh's Oscar-winning film about 1969 Belfast, Ireland as seen through the eyes of the precocious Buddy (Jude Hill), here's your chance to do it thanks to HBO. Or if you have, then you know you'll want to watch it again. The film also stars Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan, who are absolutely magnetic together, and will make you want to watch this clip over and over and over again. 8/7c
