After nearly 13 weeks of closures, Disney Parks revealed plans for a phased reopening of Disneyland Resort. The proposal reflected much of what we’ve seen at Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disneyland: The Downtown Disney District retail and dining hub was to reopen first, followed by the theme parks, then by two of the three hotels. But on June 24, the original reopening date for the theme parks and hotels was pushed back.

When will Disneyland and Disney California Adventure reopen?

There is currently no confirmed reopening date for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (DCA). They were originally slated to reopen on July 17, but since California state officials have indicated that they will not be releasing theme park guidelines until July 4, the reopening of Disneyland and DCA have been postponed with no new date in place.

Nevada gamblers now required to wear masks at table games that have no barriers

Nevada gamblers now required to wear masks at table games that have no barriers The Nevada Gaming Control Board updated its health and safety policy for casinos on Wednesday, tightening rules for gamblers sitting down to play.  "Licensees must require patrons to wear face coverings at table and card games if there is no barrier, partition, or shield between the dealer and each player," the board wrote in a notice to licensees. "This requirement applies to table and card game players, spectators, and any other person within 6 feet of any table or card game.

“Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials,” a Disney Parks press release states. “Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date.”

The delay is unsurprising to some as a petition to delay Disneyland’s reopening collected over 50,000 signatures, citing concerns that the theme parks would not yet have enough safety precautions in place to protect the health of cast members (Disney’s term for park employees). The Associated Press reports that Disney is still negotiating agreements with employee unions and has signed agreements from 20 union affiliates representing more than 11,000 employees.

When the theme parks do reopen, many changes will be in place, including significantly reduced attendance caps to facilitate social distancing. (Shanghai Disneyland reopened to 30 percent of its normal guest capacity, but a percentage has not yet been shared for U.S. Disney parks.) In order to manage the lowered capacity, Disneyland and DCA require guests (including annual passholders) to reserve theme park tickets in advance of arrival. For the time being, the parks are implementing a temporary pause on new ticket sales, most likely to first offer reservations to people who already had tickets or annual passes prior to the March closure.

Guests can also expect temperature checks and touchless bag checks prior to entering the theme parks, face coverings required for all cast members and guests over two years of age, modified ride queues, and enhanced staffing to ensure that all guests adhere to the new sanitization and social-distancing protocols. Parades and fireworks will return at a later date to minimize large group gatherings where it would be difficult to enforce six feet of separation between parties. Character meet and greets will also be temporarily unavailable.
