Judge: Iowa Medicaid denial of sex change surgery unlawful
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa law that prohibits Medicaid coverage for sex reassignment surgeries for transgender residents violates state law and the state constitution, a judge ruled in a decision made public Monday. Judge William Kelly ordered the Iowa Department of Human Services to provide coverage for sex reassignment surgeries when ordered to treat gender dysphoria, a psychological distress that results from an incongruence between one’s sex assigned at birth and one’s gender identity. It often begins in childhood, and some people may not experience it until after puberty or much later, according to the American Psychiatric Association.

Nebraska blows big lead, loses 28-21 to Iowa in 8th one-score loss of 2021
It happened to Nebraska again. All season long, the Huskers have played tough against the best teams in the Big Ten, only to lose in excruciating fashion. Friday’s season finale against No. 16 Iowa may have been the most excruciating yet. Nebraska led 21-6 late in the fourth quarter but allowed 22 unanswered points by Iowa in a heartbreaking 28-21 loss. This one featured an epic collapse in the fourth quarter. Nebraska completely controlled the first three quarters, but the comeback began when Iowa’s Caleb Shudak hit a 36-yard field goal to cut the Huskers’ lead to 21-9 with 27 seconds left in the third.

Both suspects will be tried as adults, and they are currently being held on $1 million bond. Their attorneys earlier this month said the bond should be lowered and that the boys should be released to be their parents, arguing they have no means to flee the area. © Provided by New York Daily News This photo provided by the Fairfield (Iowa) Police Department shows Nohema Graber. Prosecutors, on the other hand, have contended the bail amount should be raised, describing Graber’s death as the “extremely brutal murder of an innocent person.”
Authorities have previously said the killing appeared to be premeditated and that the teens posted about it on social media.
Goodale and Miller both have pre-trial hearings set on March 21st. A judge will rule on the matter of bond later this week.
