While Andor Season 1 only premiered days ago, and Season 2 is likely still years away, the series showrunner acknowledges the second season is already mapped out.
"Well, it’s certainly known. Yeah," show boss Tony Gilroy told Rolling Stone regarding the status of the scriptwriting. "The writing process is super-complicated, 'cause we really try to get everything just absolutely perfect, and it’s 700 pages of original material."

What Andor Needs To Do Differently Than The Other Star Wars Shows

"It's an incredible amount of scene work and actors," Gilroy said. "I'm expecting the last script from my brother [screenwriter and director Dan Gilroy] in a week on his block. I owe my three scripts, but they’re all sketched out. We know exactly what we’re doing, but the moment-to-moment details of it will probably still be being hammered out through April."
What's Happened in Andor, and What's to Come
Gilroy has previously stated Andor's next season is scheduled to start shooting in November, and work continuing well into 2023. The showrunner added post-production would likely take another year, putting the Season 2 premiere no earlier than late 2024.
Andor has already been greenlit for two seasons consisting of 12 episodes apiece. The series was originally conceived as an ambitious five-season project, but Gilroy later decided the show would work better with a more condensed storyline.
Andor Show Has Surprising Twists For Rogue One Fans, Teases Diego Luna
Diego Luna, who will reprise his role as Cassian in the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series Andor, says the prequel show will surprise Rogue One fans.Rogue One received plenty of praise from critics, fans, and even George Lucas himself. Audiences appreciated the effects, sense of urgency, authenticity, and gritty tone of the film, which was also nominated for visual effects and sound mixing Oscars. In late 2018, prequel series Andor was announced, said to take place 5 years before the events of Rogue One. Despite Cassian's role in Rogue One, Andor is expected to introduce audiences to a very different version of the character.

The series showcases the five-year journey of the titular thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna and first introduced in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In the series first three episodes, Andor's activities catch the eye of the regional Pre-Mor Authority while he searches for the whereabouts of his long-lost sister Kerri. Wanted for the death of two of its officers, Andor tries to raise the cash to flee his planet of residence, Ferrix.
He discovers the buyer for a stolen piece of Imperial tech -- Luthen Rael, played by Stellan Skarsgård -- is secretly part of the Rebel Alliance, who seeks to recruit Andor into the Rebellion. The initial episodes also feature a flashback sequence chronicling part of Andor – then known as Kassa – and Kerri’s childhood.
Genevieve O'Reilly and Forest Whitaker will also reprise their Rogue One roles in future episodes, playing Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma and militant insurgent Saw Gerrera, respectively.
The first three episodes of Andor premiered Sept. 21 and are currently streaming on Disney+, with new episodes dropping each Wednesday.
