Thursday's announcement from the Commerce Department that the economy shrank by 0.9% in the second quarter implies that the U.S. has been in a recession since January. After all, this marks the second straight quarter of contraction — the economy shrank by 1.6% in the first quarter.

In the modern history of government statistics, dating back to World War II, every single period of two consecutive negative quarters has been labeled a recession. But this time, the Biden administration and its media accomplices are claiming that there is no recession.

Such dishonesty raises a question: what would the reaction be if it were President Trump trying to redefine what a recession is?

Marjorie Taylor Greene calls herself 'Christian Nationalist' in speech at young Republican gathering

Marjorie Taylor Greene calls herself 'Christian Nationalist' in speech at young Republican gathering Greene gave a brief but fiery speech on the second day of the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida. Her popularity among GOP teens and young adults was clearly evident. She also labeled herself a 'Christian Nationalist,' which earned appreciative noises from the crowd at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida.

This isn't just "whataboutism." It's a question of media integrity.

Remember how the media routinely criticized President Trump for supposed lies, even when his statements were clearly not intended literally? Some publications even tracked them — something they stopped doing when Biden became president, because of course.

Now Biden wants to redefine "recession." This is just the latest example of Democrats' despotic dishonesty. Democrats and the media do not hold Biden to the same standards for truthfulness as they did Trump. This is obviously wrong. It indicates that legacy media is little more than public relations agents and spin doctors for Democrats — or else perhaps the Democrats are the political arm of interests represented by a left-wing news media.

White House stresses job creation, consumer spending ahead of key economic report

White House stresses job creation, consumer spending ahead of key economic report The Biden administration is leaning on strong job growth and healthy consumer spending ahead of a highly anticipated economic report this week that will signal how close the U.S. is to a recession. Recession fears are looming ahead of Thursday’s gross domestic product (GDP) release measuring how much the economy grew from April to June.…Recession fears are looming ahead of Thursday’s gross domestic product (GDP) release measuring how much the economy grew from April to June.

If Trump had tried to redefine "recession," we would still be hearing about it today. He would have been gutted like a fish, and rightfully so. They would have categorized it as his latest lie, making it a scandal. It would still be the butt of every late-night joke. Democrats in Congress would have demanded investigations, grandstanding for their rabid, left-wing political base.

The truth is, by all acceptable definitions of "recession" used before July 2022, Biden has led us into a recession. It didn't take him long, either.

This is on top of the record-breaking inflation and gas prices under his watch. The only positive economic news since Biden became president is the low unemployment rate, which began under former President Trump. Then again, unemployment is always low just when recessions hit.

Biden brought us into recession, and he was deceitful about it. Remember that when you vote.
