The American justice estimated this Tuesday, August 9, 2022 that the House of Representatives was in Right to consult Donald Trump tax declarations. These are at the heart of a procedure initiated in 2019.

A American Federal Court of Appeal judged this Tuesday, August 9, 2022 that a commission of the House of Representatives was entitled to consult Tax declarations of former president Donald Trump , seeming to mark the end of a long soap.

A procedure launched in 2019

The Chamber of Representatives Commission launched a court procedure in 2019 to force Donald Trump, then tenant of the White House, to transmit his tax declarations.

The parliamentary committee expects to receive the documents shortly

The Court of Appeal of the Columbia District said that the request of the parliamentary committee was justified in the context of its work, believing that it does not violate the principle separation of powers and that it respected the American Constitution.

Via Twitter, the Chamber's Ways and Means Commission said to expect

"immediately receiving tax reports and audit documents."

An appeal by Donald Trump rejected in December

This decision comes after a district judge rejected last December an appeal by Donald Trump aimed at not transmitting the documents, arguing that the legislative interest of the Congress carried on any deference from which Trump could benefit as a former president.

The Republican President was the first tenant of the White House in 40 years to refuse to reveal his tax sheets, seeking to keep the details of his fortune and the activities of his family business, the Trump Organization.
