Sport: Report: Paul Chryst out as Wisconsin head coach

Ohio State football’s veteran newcomer calmed the Buckeyes’ wide-eyed cornerbacks: Nathan Baird’s observations

Ohio State football’s veteran newcomer calmed the Buckeyes’ wide-eyed cornerbacks: Nathan Baird’s observations COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three observations from Ohio State football’s 52-21 victory over Wisconsin in the Buckeyes’ Big Ten Conference opener. 1. Tanner McCalister watched Ohio State cornerbacks JK Johnson and Jyaire Brown prepare for their first career starts and thought back to Nov. 2, 2019. On that date, McCalister was an Oklahoma State sophomore pressed into his first career start by an injury above him on the depth chart. Despite his nerves, he recorded six tackles against Texas Christian that night. McCalister, a veteran of 45 games with the Cowboys and Buckeyes, made sure the young cornerbacks knew they were not being asked to win that game by themselves.

After a 2-3 start to the 2022 campaign, Paul Chryst has reportedly been let go as Wisconsin’s head coach.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg via Twitter on Sunday afternoon. Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard will assume head coaching duties when the Badgers face Northwestern on Saturday.

Chryst had been Wisconsin’s head coach since 2015, and racked up a 67-26 record as the head of the Badgers program. The slow start to the 2022 campaign coupled with a few years of underperforming preseason expectations ended up being the end of the Paul Chryst era in Madison.

Kevin Stefanski is right: Part of the Browns’ loss to Falcons is on him – Terry Pluto CLEVELAND, Ohio – This is bad. This is real bad, Browns fans. Final score: Atlanta 23, Browns 20. The end was bad, Jacoby Brissett taking a bad sack in a second-and-15 situation. That was followed by an interception when it was third-and-23. I know, I keep using that same word – bad. But it was bad. And the interception a rattled Brissett threw well, that was terrible. The play-calling by coach Kevin Stefanski ... yes ... bad. © John Kuntz/cleveland.com/TNS Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski jogs off the field after their loss to the Atlanta Falcons, October 2, 2022, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Wisconsin will begin a national coaching search, but current interim head coach Jim Leonhard will likely have as good of a chance as anyone to be the next official head coach.

The downfall of Matt Rhule: How and why he got fired by the Carolina Panthers .
Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper has often said, when referring to his attempts to rebuild the team into a playoff-caliber squad, that “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” But Tepper abruptly decided Monday that Matt Rhule wasn’t the right head contractor to build the shining city that the owner envisions but has never been able to make happen. Tepper fired Rhule Monday morning, just before a team meeting and less than a third of the way through the coach’s third season as the Panthers’ head coach. Steve Wilks will serve as the team’s interim head coach for the rest of the 2022 season.
