Sport: $46 to get into Lions game? Ticket prices sinking along with Green Bay Packers' fortunes

Tennessee Titans fans celebrate Ryan Tannehill's big game in win over Packers

Tennessee Titans fans celebrate Ryan Tannehill's big game in win over Packers Ryan Tannehill passed for more than 300 yards to beat the Packers. Here's how Titans fans reacted on social media. It was behind a big performance from Ryan Tannehill, who went 22 for 27 for 333 yards and two touchdowns. It was his first 300-yard game of the season and the most points that the Titans have scored all year. Derrick Henry ran for 87 yards and a touchdown while adding 45 receiving yards and a passing touchdown.

GREEN BAY ‒ One — perhaps the only — benefit from the Green Bay Packers losing six of the last seven games is tickets becoming more affordable.

The average get-in price for two of the Packers' remaining six games are below $100 and all but one dropped in the last week, after the Packers lost to the Tennessee Titans at Lambeau Field on Thursday. Prices are determined by averaging the lowest prices at 10 secondary market sites.

The average lowest price for the Packers game in Philadelphia on Sunday was $197 on Monday, down from $255 last week. The 9-1 Eagles lost to Washington 32-21 two weeks ago and barely squeaked by the Indianapolis Colts 17-16 on Sunday, so an optimist could believe that if the Packers play like they did against the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago, they could surprise the Eagles.

Any Packers fans not living near Philadelphia are unlikely to make last-minute decisions to attend the Sunday night game. Air travel for Thanksgiving weekend will be beyond a nightmare, Philly's not overly welcoming to visiting fans, and deer hunting season wraps up this weekend, all of which argue for going to Chicago the following week instead.

The average get-in price for the noon game on Dec. 4 at Soldier Field was $212, down from $231 last week.

The ownership of the Bears might be up for debate, but much depends on the health of the respective quarterbacks. Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers, who famously reminded Chicago fans that he still owned the Bears during a victory at Soldier Field in October 2021, has been dealing with a thumb injury since the last play of the game in London on Nov. 9. Rodgers has a 25-5 record against Chicago since becoming the Packers' starting quarterback in 2008.

NFL Draft 2023: Giants land receiver, Jets pick franchise QB, Eagles double down on defense in latest 1st-round mock

NFL Draft 2023: Giants land receiver, Jets pick franchise QB, Eagles double down on defense in latest 1st-round mock It’s never too early to talk about the NFL Draft, which is a mere five months away. The New York Giants and New York Jets each had a pair of top-10 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. BUY NFL TICKETS: STUBHUB, VIVID SEATS, TICKETSMARTER, TICKETMASTER But in 2023, both teams could be sitting at the bottom of the first round. That’s what happens when you qualify for the playoffs, and both the Giants (7-4) and Jets (6-4) are hoping to return to the postseason. However the Philadelphia Eagles, despite having a league-best 9-1 record, could land a top-10 pick thanks to general manager Howie Roseman, who traded for the New Orleans Saints’ 2023 first-round pick before the 2022 draft.

Although they've lost four consecutive games, the Bears have been on an offensive tear behind quarterback Justin Fields, who threw eight touchdown passes and rushed for five more TDs during that stretch. He passed for 594 yards and ran for 470 more, making him one of the most exciting players in the NFL, but he injured his left, non-throwing, shoulder late in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons and it appeared to hamper him in the Bears' final drive of the game.

All of that production did not add up to victories, but that's hardly been the fault of the Bears' offense, which became the first team in NFL history to score 29 points or more in three consecutive games and lose them all.

Aaron Rodgers offers honest assessment of his play after loss

Aaron Rodgers offers honest assessment of his play after loss Rodgers has been dealing with a thumb injury over the past month. There have been times when it appeared that was bothering him, but he said it is not an excuse for his performance against the Titans. “I felt like fundamentally I was in a good spot. I just didn’t have the same type of consistent grip and ball coming out the same way,” Rodgers said. “I threw a lot of kind of wobblers tonight. There was some wind. Just missed a few throws I should have had. Definitely the one to Sammy and the one to Allen (Lazard).”Part of the issue for Rodgers is that he has not been comfortable in the Packers offense all season.

Bottom line, the potential for the Packers/Bears rivalry to become competitive again — Chicago lost the last seven games to Green Bay — is definitely there.

After the Bears game, the Packers get a much-needed bye week before hosting the Los Angeles Rams in a Monday night game. The get-in average is $98, up from $91 the previous week. The defending Super Bowl champion Rams lost to New Orleans 27-20 on Sunday, and are having as disappointing season as the Packers.

The price for the Christmas Day game in Miami was $171, little changed from $173 the week before. The Dolphins were on a bye Sunday, but are tied with the Buffalo Bills at the top of the AFC East division, where all the teams have winning records.

The Packers finish the season with two home games, against the NFC North-leading Minnesota Vikings and the resurgent Detroit Lions. The Vikings are 8-2, but got pasted Sunday 40-3 by the Dallas Cowboys, who the Packers beat on Nov. 13. The average get-in price was $140, down from $147 last week. The Packers are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, so this game could have meaning.

Packers QB Jordan Love offers ominous response when questioned if he'll ask for a trade

Packers QB Jordan Love offers ominous response when questioned if he'll ask for a trade The 24-year-old may look to move on if Rodgers plays out the three-year, $150 million contract he signed in March. “We’ll see,” Love told ESPN’s Rob Demovsky regarding possibly asking for a trade. “I would obviously be in the fourth year of my contract, and it would be the team’s possibility of picking up my fifth year. It’s really on them to see what kind of moves they want to make, what they want to do with the future.” De'Vondre Campbell with some praise for Jordan Love pic.twitter.com/LmLydr4b3Y — PFF (@PFF) November 8, 2022 Love has played in just eight games over the last three seasons, starting once in 2021.

If the Packers' fortunes do not improve, and Detroit's continue to do so, ticket prices might reach Cleveland Browns level of 2017, when seats for that game in Cleveland in December could be had for as little as $11. As of Monday, the average get-in price at Lambeau Field was an unheard of $46.

An additional drag on tickets is that the NFL has not announced a time or whether the game will be played Jan. 7 or Jan. 8

The Lions, who've won three consecutive games, are in second place in the NFC North after decisively defeating the 7-3 New York Giants 31-18 on Sunday. The Lions will host the Buffalo Bills for Thanksgiving Day's opening game.

Ticket prices

The following are secondary market ticket prices as of Monday.

It's expensive to be a Packers fan. A day at Lambeau is pricier than most other stadiums.

It's expensive to be a Packers fan. A day at Lambeau is pricier than most other stadiums. Lambeau Field ranks as the ninth most expensive stadium for general seating fans. But fans still say it's the best stadium in which to watch football. The Packers also have the most expensive road schedule in the NFC North division, with or without factoring in the game in London ― although the NFC North itself is the fifth-most expensive among the eight divisions in the NFL.

For our look at Packers' tickets prices, we averaged the lowest ticket prices at 10 secondary market websites: Event USA, Gametime, Green Bay Ticket Service, SeatGeek, StubHub, TicketIQ, Ticketmaster, TickPick, Ticket King and Vivid Seats.

Note that ticket marketplaces can add fees on top of listed prices, so actual costs might be higher.

Some websites offer standing room only tickets for Packers home games. The Packers have designated these tickets as "not available for resale," so buyers proceed at their own risk. If the ticket does not scan as valid, fans won't be admitted to the stadium, and their recourse for a refund is to contact the seller of the ticket.
