Sport: Vikings elevate two players from practice squad prior to Thursday's game

Vikings’ Justin Jefferson breaks Randy Moss record for most yards receiving in first three seasons

Vikings’ Justin Jefferson breaks Randy Moss record for most yards receiving in first three seasons Another season, another record. In the Vikings’ 33-26 win Thursday night over New England at U.S. Bank Stadium, wide receiver Justin Jefferson broke the NFL record for most yards receiving in a player’s first three seasons. And there are still six games remaining in 2022. Jefferson, who caught nine passes for 139 yards and a touchdown, broke the mark of 4,163 yards set by Vikings hall of famer Randy Moss from 1998-2000. Jefferson had entered the game with 4,109 career yards and now has 4,248. Jefferson had 3,016 yards to break the record Odell Beckham Jr. set in 2014-15 with the New York Giants for most yards in a player’s first two seasons.

The Minnesota Vikings were destined to elevate a cornerback with both Akayleb Evans and Andrew Booth Jr. out for Thursday night’s game against the New England Patriots and they did just that with Tay Gowan.

The second-year pro Gowan wasn’t the only one that the Vikings elevated, as they chose to elevate linebacker William Kwenkeu as well.

The addition of Kwenkeu feels more special teams related than anything. One thing to keep tabs on when the inactives come out is if linebacker Troy Dye will be inactive in favor of Kwenkeu.

Jets bench Zach Wilson, will start Mike White vs. Bears | Jimmy Garoppolo coming in 2023? UPDATE: Robert Saleh said Mike White will start in place of Zach Wilson on Sunday against the Bears. Saleh also said this: “Zach’s career here is not over. The young man needs a reset. This is not putting a nail in his coffin.” But what else would you expect him to say at this point? Saleh did say the Jets’ coaches intend to play Wilson at some point in the final seven regular season games. That mindset can obviously change, depending on how White performs. White has played in four career games (all last season), with three starts. He has a 1-2 record as a starter and pretty bad stats — five touchdowns, eight interceptions, 75.1 quarterback rating.

This is Gowan’s second-consecutive game active, as he was last week as well. Gowan was a sixth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL draft.
