Now, he’ll host it Once upon a time, Charlotte had one of the best holiday high school basketball events in the country, the Dell Curry/Bojangles’ Shootout. This week, a former local basketball star who made his name in that event hopes to make it happen again. The inaugural Anthony Morrow Shootout tips off at Charlotte Latin School on Tuesday at noon. The tournament will feature seven current state champions and 13 of the 16 boys teams in the latest Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 poll. “I want this to be on national television one day,” said Morrow, 37, “and give kids an opportunity to showcase themselves to get more opportunities for college or whatever it is.

Anndel Taylor, 22, who moved to New York after living in North Carolina, was stranded in her car during the severe weather.

Taylor later died.

CNN reports that Taylor was driving home from work – a six-minute drive – when she became trapped in the blizzard.

Taylor would send her last video message to her family group chat early Christmas Eve morning, according to CNN.
