Which NFL stars will carry their teams to Super Bowl? From Patrick Mahomes and Derrick Henry to Aaron Rodgers and Jimmy Garoppolo, there will be plenty of star power on the field Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans have combined for just one Super Bowl win since the 2000 season (by the Packers in the 2010 campaign). But while the teams might be short on recent experience at the game's biggest stage, there's plenty of star power among them.

According to 247’s BamaOnLine, Alabama has reclaimed the top spot as the No . 1 recruiting class in the country for the Class of 2020 . Nick Saban’s side replaces bitter rival LSU, who occupied the spot for several weeks until losing it on Thursday. Per the report, the shift is a result of four-star defensive tackle Alabama ’s current recruiting class consists of 11 committed players. Among them are five-star defensive end and No. 14 overall prospect Chris Braswell, who made a hard commit to the team this past November. Alabama has also secured commitments from another nine four-star prospects

Alabama ’s 2017 class is No. 3 in the 247Sports all-time rankings after making its case for being No . 1 on the field. Class members who stayed four years won two national titles and played for a third. Three were Heisman Trophy finalists while DeVonta Smith claimed the 2020 prize. The 2021 group bulks up the line with No. 2 overall prospect JC Latham and No. 5 Tommy Brockermeyer both playing offensive tackle. Defensive lineman Dallas Turner and Damon Payne are also five-star recruits who made the top 25 of the 247Sports composite. Four of the top 10 receivers also joined a program that’s losing

Earlier this week, some Georgia football fans were undoubtedly pretty bummed after Alabama surpassed them in the 2020 recruiting rankings to take hold of the No. 1 spot, thanks to a promotion for Bryce Young.

Well, days later, Kirby Smart and Co. are back in the lead of things. Yup, the Bulldogs indeed are at No. 1 after 4-star running back Daijun Edwards committed to UGA on Thursday afternoon.

Take that, Nick Saban!

After finishing with the No. 1 group for 2019, Smart and his coaching staff surely are hoping to do so once again with this newest crop. Additionally, they're still looking to add some big targets for National Signing Day on Feb. 5.

The Dawgs are also hoping to hang on to one of the top unsigned commits in the county. We're talking about offensive tackle Broderick Jones. The OT recently reaffirmed his status with the Bulldogs, but will still be taking an official visit to Auburn this weekend.

For now, Georgia holds the No. 1 spot. Let's see if that's still the case come next Wednesday.

The 2020 Alabama roster, which Saban said was among his favorite groups to coach because of the adversity faced and SEC-only schedule domination no other program was able to navigate unscathed, was truly a senior-laden one . a group of people racing each other on a field: College football is a big business, among other things. Tens of millions of dollars are routinely flowing through the athletic departments of the biggest programs, not to mention the value of the exposure a school gets from having a winning program. When recruiting thousands of prospective students to shell out tens of thousands of dollars in tuition and fees, few things put your school on the map like a football team that’s on ESPN every day in the fall. But before you can start recruiting the hordes of tuition-paying students with the promise of big football games every year, you have to recruit the top-tier athletes to attend your school for free. As much as Americans go for the underdog story, football is a sport that emphasizes athleticism above all else. If you can consistently recruit the biggest, strongest and fastest high school athletes, your odds of being at the top of the standings year after year are pretty good. So, which schools are throwing the most money at the problem? To answer the question, GOBankingRates has compiled information on the football recruiting budgets for 55 public Division I programs using data from Watch Stadium (which excluded both private universities and Division I-A universities). Bolstered with info on the total recruiting budget for the school, the study gives a clearer sense of which college football programs have the most cash at their disposal as well as which commit the largest portion of their total recruiting budget specifically to football. The study is ranked in order from the least to most spent on football recruiting. The results show some predictable names near the top, but there are also plenty of schools that appear to be doing a lot with their money, in addition to others that might be spending a ton to get very little. After all, in college football, as in life, nothing comes for free. Last updated: Jan. 28, 2020
