The NWSL cracked down on team front office members who tweeted about the league's investigation into security at the Houston Dash's scoreless draw against the Chicago Red Stars on Friday, according to soccer reporter Grant Wahl.

The league announced it would investigate after Chicago Red Stars defender Sarah Gorden said security singled her out to enforce COVID-19 protocols while white players were allowed to interact with their families after the match.

Gorden, who is Black, said Houston security threatened to arrest Gorden's boyfriend if he got close to her following a game. Meanwhile, white players on the Dash were allowed to be close to their families, according to Gorden.

Red Stars co-owner and ESPN personality Sarah Spain and Gotham FC general manager Alyse LaHue were both reportedly fined Wednesday for tweeting about the investigation. Spain shared Gorden's Twitter thread and tweets from players supporting Gorden.

LaHue sent out two tweets expressing her disappointment with the situation. LaHue also apologized to Gorden.

The NWSL reportedly sent a memo urging front office members to not comment on the investigation. LaHue and Spain were allegedly fined for violating that memo.

The NWSL's memo reportedly does not apply to players, many of who issued statements of support for Gorden following the incident.
