Later in the day, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reported that Paul did test positive for COVID-19. The 36-year-old received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in February, per Gambadoro.

Paul will be sidelined indefinitely, and his status for the Western Conference Finals is unclear. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the isolation period for a vaccinated individual could be shorter than an unvaccinated individual.

NBA playoffs: Suns complete sweep of Nuggets, advance to Western Conference finals

NBA playoffs: Suns complete sweep of Nuggets, advance to Western Conference finals No team was better against quality competition than the Phoenix Suns during the regular season. The Suns completed a sweep of the Denver Nuggets on Sunday with a 125-118 win, advancing to their first Western Conference finals since 2010. Leading the Suns once again was Chris Paul, who scored a season-high 37 points, his most in a playoff game since a playoff career-high 41 in the 2018 postseason. The Suns await the winner of the Los Angeles Clippers-Utah Jazz series, which is currently tied 2-2. If Paul is unable to compete in the Western Conference Finals, it'll be a huge blow for the Suns, who are back in the conference finals for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign.

Paul is averaging 15.7 points, 8.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game this postseason. His best performance of the playoffs came in Game 4 against the Nuggets when he put up 37 points, three rebounds and seven assists.

Vikings' Mike Zimmer: Players not vaccinated against COVID-19 will have 'harder time' this season

Vikings' Mike Zimmer: Players not vaccinated against COVID-19 will have 'harder time' this season Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said those who don't receive shots will only make things more difficult for themselves throughout the summer and fall months. He explained:"The unvaccinated players are going to have a harder time in the season. They’re going to be wearing masks, they’ll have to social distance. They’ll have daily testings. They won’t be able to go home for bye week. They’ll have to come back here and test every day."When we go on the road, they won’t be able to go out to dinner with anybody. They’ll have to travel on buses differently, travel on planes differently.

NBA playoffs: Chris Paul's 41 points put away Clippers, Suns advance to first NBA Finals since 1993 .
Chris Paul looked like a man playing for his first trip to an NBA Finals in a 16-year career, and that performance now has his Phoenix Suns one series away from their first-ever championship. The Suns defeated the shorthanded Los Angeles Clippers 130-103 to win the Western Conference finals and advance to the Finals, their first trip since 1993. It took a vintage night from Paul, for better or worse, to get them there. Paul finished with 41 points on 16-of-24 shooting (7-of-8 from deep), eight assists, four rebounds and three steals.
