We're only a day away from the Octagon door closing behind Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum when they compete in the main event of UFC Vegas 34.

Before they can make their way to the cage, however, Cannonier, Gastelum and the rest of the UFC Vegas 34 fighters must first get through the weigh-ins.

Cannonier has looked quite impressive since moving down to middleweight. The drop so far has seen him score finishes of David Branch, Anderson Silva and Jack Hermansson. Cannonier was unsuccessful in his last outing, however, dropping a decision to former champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 254.

Gastelum comes into this bout in major need of a victory. While his fight with Israel Adesanya for the interim UFC middleweight championship at UFC 236 was an instant classic, it also marked the start of his current downward trend.

Gastelum has lost four of his last five, most recently losing a short-notice bout with Whittaker in April via unanimous decision.

The co-main event will see the return of Mark Madsen, as he squares off with longtime UFC veteran Clay Guida.
