While the NHL opted to not send its players to Beijing last month, Russia's roster still has a sizeable big-league presence.
Artem Anisimov takes the reigns atop the forward corps this year, with the former NHL veteran having suited up for 771 games for the New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and Ottawa Senators before heading to Yaroslavl of the KHL this offseason.
Joining Anisimov is former Buffalo Sabre Mikhail Grigorenko, who logged a total of 249 NHL games throughout his career, most recently with the Blue Jackets last season, until returning home to Russia to suit up for CSKA Moscow.
Nikita Gusev, Kirill Semyonov, Nikita Nesterov, and Vadim Shipachev all had cups of coffee in the NHL of varying lengths, with Nesterov's 170 games standing atop the rest of his peers.
With the playing field as even as it ever has been this year, Olympic gold is anyone's for the taking.
