Braves outfielder Adam Duvall to have season-ending wrist surgery

Braves outfielder Adam Duvall to have season-ending wrist surgery Duvall, 33, exited in the third inning of a Saturday game against the Los Angeles Angels with wrist soreness. On Sunday morning, the Braves placed Duvall on the 10-day injured list with what the team called a sprained wrist. The injury leaves the Braves thin in the outfield even after the team got Eddie Rosario back from an eye injury earlier in July. Rosario is batting .132 this season and Atlanta moved Guillermo Heredia and Michael Harris II into the starting lineup with Ronald Acuña Jr. on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Pirates currently sit in third place in the NL Central, a full 13.0 games out of first place and 10.5 games back of the third and final NL wildcard spot.

While the Pirates find themselves 16 games under .500 after the All-Star break, they may soon get a boost with the return of starting centerfielder Bryan Reynolds. The 27-year-old has been on the injured list since July 11 with a right oblique strain.

Wood takes no-hitter into 7th, Giants beat Cubs to stop skid

Wood takes no-hitter into 7th, Giants beat Cubs to stop skid SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Alex Wood took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and the San Francisco Giants beat the Chicago Cubs 4-2 on Thursday night to stop a seven-game slide. Yermín Mercedes hit an early two-run single, and four Giants pitchers combined on a three-hitter to snap Chicago's six-game winning streak. An umpire’s ruling that appeared to give the Cubs a break instead contributed to San Francisco’s three-run third. Wood (7-8) allowed two hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking two.

On Sunday, Reynolds told Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Gazette that he plans to return during the Pirates' upcoming series against the Chicago Cubs, either on Monday or Tuesday.

In his fourth major league season, Reynolds is batting .261/.343/.465 with 15 home runs and 32 RBI in 83 games for the Pirates.

Originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2016, the Pirates acquired Reynolds as part of a trade package for former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen in 2018. Reynolds made his major league debut the following season.

Assuming that the Giants are indeed poised to become sellers to some extent, they immediately become an intriguing team to watch prior to Tuesday’s 6 p.m. ET trade deadline.

Reynolds was an All-Star in 2021, finishing the season slashing .302/.390/.522 with 24 home runs and 90 RBI through 159 games.

While his return to the Pirates lineup may spark trade whispers, the team has reportedly "rebuffed" any offers for Reynolds and are unlikely to deal the centerfielder.
