inculpations in a case that has become emblematic of the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States, that of the death of the African-American Breonna Taylor. Four police officers will have to respond to violations of the American federal law.

For more than a year, the United States Ministry of Justice has investigated and has just charged 4 police officers. Three of them are prosecuted for falsifying the constituent elements of the mandate which led to the murderous raid. A fourth, the one that was acquitted previously, is accused of excessive strength.

A sign of the importance of the case, it was the Minister of Justice Merrick Garland who himself announced these prosecution. Breonna Taylor's lawyer thanks the Department of Justice for his work.

After a series of disappointing setbacks, the charges filed against four officers in the 2020 killing of Breonna Taylor in Louisville brought a welcome sense of relief. “It is such a weight lifted,” said Sadiqa Reynolds, president of Louisville’s Urban League, who has advocated for Taylor’s family and led protest marches. “What this decision yesterday did is to begin lifting the cloud that had been hanging over us.”The indictments represent the first time Louisville police officers have been held accountable for Taylor’s shooting death in her home.
