Olaf Scholz said that Germany will "never" recognize the result of the referendums that took place in the Ukrainian regions occupied by the Russian forces.

The Donetsk, Louhansk, Kherson and Zaporijia regions are now illegitimately attached to Russia after the official results were communicated by Moscow.

However, the results of these illegitimate referendums are not recognized by Western countries.

The German Chancellor said in a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky: "Germany will never recognize the results. Germany will continue to support Ukraine politically, financially, humanitarian, as well as in the defense of its sovereignty and its territorial integrity, including by deliveries of arms.

During this exchange, the two leaders "discussed the military, political and economic situation of Ukraine and the possibilities of additional support, including on reconstruction.

With these annexation referendums, Vladimir Putin intends to use this attachment to Russia as a pretext to use the atomic weapon.
